How to find the perfect room on Rent Room

If you’re new to the idea of living in a rented room or apartment, you might not know how to properly look for one. Knowing what to search for in a rental will increase your chances of finding a good place to live in, with an easy-going owner and an adequate price-to-quality ratio. Here are some of the most important things to look for in a perfect room when browsing Rent Room!

Start early!

Never leave looking for an apartment or a room till the last moment! If you do, you’ll quickly find yourself pressured to take anything available, since you’re running out of time. Instead, start looking for your rental at least a month in advance. This will give you enough time to find better rooms for rent and increase your chances of finding a true gem.

To make your search a bit more efficient, try searching for rentals during the first week of a month – this is usually the least busy time, giving you a better chance of finding your perfect room.

Ask for a tour

If you have already found a seemingly great deal on an apartment you like, always make sure to ask the owner for a tour before you decide. This way, you’ll be able to confirm the state of the apartment, so keep a keen eye for anything that might require the owner’s attention.

A good thing to do is check the signal on your phone around the apartment, especially your room – a lot of potential tenants often forget to check such things. Ask the owner about the internet connection, make sure you check all of the water outlets in the apartment, and don’t ignore any details that you think might be an issue later.

Always pay attention to the location

Before you decide to rent a room you find that suits your needs, take a good look at its surroundings. Prior to signing a contract, check how to properly commute from that apartment to your work, school, and family. Check out all the means of public transportation that are accessible in the vicinity of your new apartment, and try to find some information about the area’s traffic.

Taking a walk through your potential neighborhood might be a good idea, if you have the ability to do so. This way, you can find every interesting shop and service in the area, saving you the hassle of searching in the future.
